TEAM NEWS

Liverpool's Philippe Coutinho returns on Sunday after being rested against Besiktas but Jordan Henderson's ankle problem will be reassessed.
Full-back Glen Johnson should have recovered from illness, while Lazar Markovic is available after suspension.
Manchester City's Yaya Toure returns after missing the midweek Champions League defeat through suspension.
Forward Wilfried Bony could be in line for his first start after making his City debut off the bench last weekend.

MATCH PREVIEW

After what happened at the end of their European games this week, what price a penalty proving decisive here?
While Dejan Lovren's miss ended Liverpool's Europa League hopes,Joe Hart's save from Lionel Messi just about kept Man City alive in the Champions League. Just about.
It also served as a major boost to City's spirits as they resume their chase of Chelsea - a chase that is back on after a two-point gain on the Premier League leaders last weekend.
Both of City's recent title successes have been achieved with a late rush of wins, and although they might have to start their run from a little further out this time, it's certainly not beyond them.

Lawro's prediction

"Liverpool can definitely get at Manchester City's defence with their fast attacking players - in the past we have been asking who the best partner is for Vincent Kompany at centre-back, but he is struggling for form right now and he has gone backwards."
Predictions: Lawro v England rugby star George Ford
What has been is winning at Anfield, and you can extend their poor record there recently much further back in time: from no win in 12 visits to one win in 26 - to two in 46 going back to 1956.
Having won at Stoke in their last away game, it's now the only ground that City have failed to win at in the league since Sheikh Mansour's takeover in 2008.
Liverpool's 3-2 victory in this fixture last April was accompanied by the sort of passionate, flag-waving fervour that's not seen enough these days - and a real belief afterwards that the Reds were going to end their long wait to be champions again.
That wait will surely go on still, despite Liverpool being top of the Premier League form charts, having gone 10 games unbeaten and being the only team not to have lost this year.
This doesn't have the crucial feel of that last Anfield clash, but such a prestige game might be what's needed for Liverpool to shake the disappointment and lethargy out of their legs after Istanbul.
The possible returns of Jordan Henderson, Philippe Coutinho and Lazar Markovic will help too - but City can see them and raise them with Yaya Toure.
